The “Green Academy of Training and Technology (GATT)” is unique
to
Building Hope Nevada. Programs are emerging as high-growth areas, yet
there are few corporations who can implement such programs. Nevada has a strong footing and the natural
resources to capitalize on this opportunity.
Building Hope Nevada is
positioned to take advantage, both in terms of creating educational/employment training programs and
implementation of design, and installation of “green” energy programs.
The vision behind the Green Academy of Training and Technology was to
create a knowledge and practical certification program for at-risk youth to learn about the benefits,
design and implementation of alternative energy products. Partnering with for profits and other nonprofits,
Building Hope Nevada has designed a curriculum for certification, that when completed will position these
young adults to continue into a job readiness program or continue their education, with a focus on alternative energies.
Beyond a certification program, the GATT® program has been developed in
collaboration with “end users” — contractors, information system designers, economic development authorities, manufacturers,
higher education and organized labor as an accreditation in the industry of alternative energies. Simultaneously, Building Hope Nevada,
and their for profit, higher-education and government partners are developing a long-term strategy to create a sustainable economy,
centered around alternative energies and ‘green collar’ jobs.
